Jeep is now a brand of SUV, the Chrysler Group LLC and has evolved over time - like, for example, Tesa and speed - in Europe as a generic name (with the difference that the term jeep motivated not as a trademark, but has been used for the U.S. military jeep Willys MB has). Therefore, sometimes other-terrain vehicles in the European area commonly known as "Jeep" means, while in the U.S., the term SUV (sports utility vehicle) has prevailed.

Perhaps I'm a stickler but the chrome strip on my lower front bumper has some discoloration. It's not much but enough to be noticeable. I thought to myself, that shouldn't happen to a vehicle that I've owned and cared for over a few summer months.
So today I was in the neighborhood of Westbury's Service Center and decided to stop by and ask about it. I spoke with Jim who came over and took a look at the issue. He explained to me that he wasn't sure if it was due to road debris or some cleaning…

With all the new Chrysler & Jeep vehicles coming out in 2010, it may be a good idea to get people some 'seat time' in a controlled environment.
In the past, I've attended local events staged by area dealerships where current brand customers were invited to test drive a new model. It was fun, exciting and a great way to learn about the new vehicle as well as a great way for dealers to meet potential customers.
It all started when I received an email invitation which pointed me to a website…

There are many things in store fro Jeep according to my sources. The Jeep lineup will expand dramatically over the next 2 years. Look for some really creative and exciting lifestyle vehicles. For 2010, the Grand Cherokee Laredo has gone back to its roots with chrome accents instead of the cheap black look. Leasing has just come back and I am excited about being able to offer our customers an affordable payment. Please feel free to view all the specials on our…

So had some time yesterday to move to the next part, the first coat of paint. Here's both covers painted HEMI Orange.

I began removing the tape on the lettering so you can see that I sanded off the original silver paint and it's now clean plastic. Here's a better photo of the coil cover with the tape…

They say practice makes perfect so I'm working on another set of HEMI coil covers for a friend. Here's what they look like originally (after some light sanding)

This time around sanded everything including the HEMI lettering and then taped off the lettering before painting them with HEMI Orange en…

So I wanted to add some flair to my Jeep and with times tough all around, I wasn't too keen to spend alot of money just yet. I had seen a photo of a 6.1L HEMI with orange coil covers and thought it really punched up the engine bay.
I made a visit to my local autoparts store and purchases HEMI Orange engine paint, Semi-Gloss Black paint, a Scotch Brite pad, some blue painter's tape and set to work to duplicate them.
Step 1 was to prep them for painting so I sanded down the plastic coil covers -…

I had an opportunity to visit Westbury's Service Center on Bond Street in Westbury. This is an all-new facility with some great features. I have just over 3500 miles on my Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 so I was in need of a quick oil change.
I called about setting up an appointment last week and was informed that I could merely drive-up and use the Express Lane at the Service Center. No appointment necessary! I thought "wow, this should be interesting".
So I drive in today through the Express Lane.…

So this summer I had an opportunity to take the family out to Shelter Island for a 3 day weekend. With 2 kids, that means packing up the Jeep and making the nearly 2 hour drive/ferry/drive to our destination.
We stayed at
The Pridwin Hotel on Shelter Island. This was the view from the Pool area at the hotel.

It's been just over 2000 miles and almost 2 months now that I've owned a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. I've always loved this SUV from the first time I saw it and now I can truly say, its more than love at first sight!
This Jeep is amazing. It handles well, almost deceiving in its road manners. Yes it can get bumpy but I'm willing to live with that when I turn the wheel and it steers exactly where I aim it.
The performance is of course astounding. I'm smiling as I type this! It's fast and it…
